The final type of paper we will be writing for this semester is the persuasive (or argumentative) essay The persuasive essay is essentially just you arguing your perspective on a topic and attempting to convince your reader that your perspective is the RIGHT perspective. Here are the key points to keep in mind in this type of writing:
1) You are writing an ARGUMENT here, so your topic must be one that is arguable, meaning it is a matter of OPINION, and not a proven fact.
2) The only way to be fully convincing in any argument is to overwhelm your reader with strong statements, facts, and examples that serve to PROVE your opinion.
3) A persuasive essay must have a very clearly and strongly stated THESIS or STATEMENT OF OPINION to work from. This Thesis statement cannot be a question, and it must be an opinion that can be debated. For this first paper, you are choosing from a list I have provided as an attachment so I know your thesis will be a solid one.
4) By the end of your paper, the reader should feel that you have made such a strong argument that s/he is convinced.

statement is TRUE or it is FALSE, totally depending on your opinion.
