This is not a retelling or a summary of the Ramayana. It is an examination by a modern person giving his or her scholarly reading of the work. The key question is, how helpful is this modern person’s interpretation? How does it shed light on the meaning of the work?
Prepare an overview/summary of the essay by examining these points:
Identify the author’s thesis in the essay. What is the author’s argument?
Present the major areas of discussion; these subtopics reinforce the thesis. Take time to look up any terms that need definition.
Prepare the evaluation section of the essay:
How does the essay shed new light on the primary text, or the culture it examines?
Select statements from the essay in quote or paraphrase, and evaluate each in terms of your own views about the primary source. If you were in a conversation with the author, what sections of the work would you be interested in talking about?
Essay format:
A successful review will cover at least 9 pages of the article
Write the introduction, which introduces the reader to the article and the figure in the Ramayana that the article focuses upon. Then conclude with your thesis: to what extent is the article useful for understanding the Ramayana? (How does the article shed light on the work?)
Write the body of the essay. The first part of the body is a summary based on your notes from 1) above. The second part of the essay is your review based on 2) above.
Provide in-text citation and a “Works Cited” page in MLA style
I will attach a document of article that the review should be over
