The net present social value model in capital budgeting is the total value of NPV plus social value.NPV is measured by estimating future cash inflows and comparing it with the cost of the project by considering the time value of money. Estimating cash inflows are generally easy as compared to estimating social value because the project cost such as land, building and other operating costs are easily identifiable and estimated inflows can be to an extend be easily determined by the average rate of return of that industry but our portion of our overall return of many organizations maybe also from their social services.so we have to measure the inflow generated by social services which is not that much easy. It is determined by estimating social value. estimating social value is a debatable issue among the experts but although it is debatable there are some reliable measurement techniques used to measure social value.
Social values are the most important aspects of a social system which play a predominant role in running and maintaining the social order. They provide general guidelines for social conduct. For example – honesty is the most appreciated behavior of an individual in a social system, even those who do business based on adulteration and fake products, They also like and expect honesty from others. Another example is that if we are living in a religious society where people are very religious, serving to religious places have high social value, if we do this with other members it will be of high use and people pay respect plus consider the person with respectful manners. Likewise, When an organization does social services it carries benefits to the organization but how we will measure it is the big question?.one of the most famous formula use to measure social benefit is that setting SROI(Social Return On Investment Ratio to 5:1, it means that every dollar allocated will generate (or has generated) social value worth five dollars. Likewise, We can measure our social value for capital budgeting.It is proved that social values will add values to an organization.
