What is the significance in knowing the various drug classifications and how they work?

As a Medical Assistant, a great deal of responsibility is given to us in regards to medication administration, and should not be taken lightly. While it may seem easy to administer medications, there is a lot of skill and knowledge that goes into properly completing the procedure and effectively communicate with your patient. After reading Chapter 49 in your book, please answer the following questions.

At times as a Medical Assistant you will be tasked with calculating the proper dose of medication to your patients. Based on the complete scope of this activity, please share your thoughts on the following questions:
1. Why is it important that you fully understand how to accurately complete drug calculations?
2. Why should you know basic conversions between different units of measure as well as different measurement systems?
3. What could the consequences be for your patient if you do not accurately make these calculations and/or conversions?
