Peer-review Article Summary Assignment-
One of the vital skills necessary to develop as a scholar or a professional is being able to read other people’s work/research and 1) summarize it or, 2) critique it. In this assignment, students are required to find one peer reviewed journal article on a topic related to parenting e.g. disciplining children, adoption, sleep, talking to children about divorce, sex, race etc…. This article MUST have been published within in the last 10 years (between 2010-2021). You will be required to summarize this article and provide a brief reflection on the article in 1.5-2.5 pages. Students who do not know how to find a peer reviewed article or what a peer reviewed article looks like, are highly encouraged to visit the assignment folder on D2L for various resources to help in the process of completing this assignment.
KEY: Students MUST upload both the original article reviewed and their summary in the assignment folder on D2L before the Due date.

A summary of what the article is about (Including; the main research question/study hypothesis, study variables) (e.g. this article examined the relationship between caring for children with autism and school performance), the journal in which it was published, authors names, and the year of publication in APA format (e.g. Asiimwe, R., Beffel, J., (2020). These details should be included in the first paragraph of your summary
A summary of the METHODS section. In this section, students are required to discuss methodological issues e.g. sample size, demographic characteristics of participants, how participants were recruited for the study, and how measurement was done. Details of the statistical analysis used are not required BUT students are encouraged to include these if they can
A summary of RESULTS and Recommendations for future research/implications for practice. Basically, summarize the findings from the study
A PERSONAL REFLECTION and CRITIQUE of the article. Summarize your experience (positive and negative) reviewing the article. Discuss what you liked and did not like about the study/article. Discuss what the authors could have done to improve the study. HINT: if you were the one leading this study, what could you have done differently from what the original authors did.
