An “A” paper addresses all aspects of the assignment clearly and specifically. This paper
explicitly demonstrates frequent and thorough use of relevant course material and outside
sources. It is a well-organized, detailed, and well-written essay (including proper grammar,
syntax, spelling, etc.). The paper is insightful, demonstrates mastery of both content and
expression, and demonstrates high-level analysis. It is at least six full pages in length. However,
the length alone is not sufficient for an “A.
This assignment will involve examining how biases influence your career. You are encouraged
to write in first-person as this is a reflective assignment.
1. Explain how biases from society shape workplace behavior.
2. Reflect on how your own bias(es) may influence the manner you interact with others
(e.g., supervisors, peers, subordinates) in the workplace. Provide a specific example or
examples of times that your biases influenced others in the workplace. Then, describe
how you have or will strive to recognize and address the bias(es) to grow as a leader or
manager.
3. Consider how others’ biases have influenced you within the workplace. Provide a
specific example or examples of times that others’ biases had a direct impact on your
professional behavior.
4. As learning is extremely important to individuals and organizations, describe what you
have or can realistically do to help others recognize their biases as a leader or manager.
