changing workplace traditions

This is an essay on traditions, good or bad, and how we see them. My topic is how traditions for workers are being changed or called into question, such as the efficacy of the 9-5 workday in the absence of the nuclear family, or the decrease of worker loyalty from past generations. This is from a perspective of improving worker happiness, free time, and personal agency being favored over strict adherence to labor norms. But are all changes good? Now we have worse work-life balance, fewer unions, lower relative wages. The answer is not a clear cut “tradition bad” or “tradition good” but rather that the lives and rights of workers matter more than the bottom line.
