Choose a literacy lesson plan you have implemented within a placement experience OR a lesson plan you have sourced from a mentor or website. The lesson plan MUST be literacy specific, refer to the English Victorian Curriculum and for the primary year levels (F-6). Read Chapter 1 Seely Flint et al. Consider the key debates and principles underpinning effective 21st century literacy instruction. You will consider the literacy principles outlined in Chapter 1 Seely Flint et al. and use this literature to annotate your literacy lesson. You will identify the theoretical ideas underpinning the delivery of this lesson, connect the teaching/learning to the key principles pertaining to effective 21st century literacy instruction and identify areas in which the lesson could be enhanced or improved. You will need to provide an audio annotation addressing the following key questions:

Theoretical underpinnings: What literacy perspectives relating to what it means to be literate and / or ideologies underpin the approach taken within this lesson?
Key principles: Evaluate the 6 guiding principles for teaching literacy in the 21st century – identify and connect one of the six guiding principles to this lesson. Which of the 6 guiding principles were evident or enacted throughout this lesson?
Enhancements: How would you adapt or change this lesson to ensure you are catering to and meeting the learning needs of all learners?
You may use PDF, PowerPoint with audio or a screen casting tool such as QuickTime or Screencast-O-matic to annotate the lesson plan. The audio recording should not exceed 5 minutes.

Read Chapter 1 Seely Flint titled ‘Examining literacy in the 21st-century.’
Select a literacy lesson plan delivered and implemented during a school placement experience.
Analyse the literacy lesson plan based on the ideas from the reading and respond to the following question prompts:
Theoretical underpinnings: What literacy perspectives relating to what it means to be literate and / or ideologies underpin the approach taken within this lesson?
Key principles: Evaluate the 6 guiding principles for teaching literacy in the 21st century – identify and connect one of the six guiding principles to this lesson. Which of the 6 guiding principles were evident or enacted throughout this lesson?
Enhancements: How would you adapt or change this lesson to ensure you are catering to and meeting the learning needs of all learners?
Create an audio annotation of the lesson plan outlining your responses to the question prompts. The audio recording must not exceed 5 minutes.
