Please read the attached article by David Watson, and discuss the main premise and supporting arguments he uses to buttress his Great Divide theory. What is the article about? It’s a new theory on the reasons for the differences between the Americas and the rest of the (old) world. What are they, how does the author explain them, and how do you evaluate his proposition. How does this fit into the larger historical context?
Please give a 250-word review of the article, cite it as you go, and refer to chronology from the article (i.e. have a date) at least twice.
B) For “Text” – Primary Source Document Analysis:
2.1. Start with providing the title/name of the document at the top
2.2 Analyze the text of the primary source document, incorporating what you’ve learned in the lesson (1 in-text reference from our textbook). Use the questions at the bottom of the primary source document as a guideline. Make sure you integrate the historical questions – Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How in your essay format reply.
2.3. Cite your sources (in-text and work cited at the end).
2.4. About 200 words of your analysis should suffice.

3.1. The “ARTifact” and “Text” do not have to correspond thematically and do not have to be from the same world region, but both need to be roughly from the chronological period covered in the given module.
3.2. In some modules, you will be asked to do both an Art and Text, and in some, only one of the two.
3.3. This assignment has two parts – the first part is the art report (200 words), and the second part is the text analysis (200 words).
