How to Write a Critical Analysis Paper of Primary Sources

The Critical Analysis Paper is your opportunity to do some deep thinking about a primary source.
What do I mean by deep thinking? Ponder these questions when you read/look at the sources:
• Who wrote this source?
• Why did they write this source?
• How does this source add to our understanding of the author and/or the community that the author came from?
• Has this source helped give you a better mental picture or understanding of the author and/or their community?

Note: You may choose a primary source image to analyze, but you can use only one per paper.

What a Critical Analysis is NOT – IT IS NOT A SUMMARY OF THE SOURCE. Please do not write and tell me the content of the source. Instead, I’m interested in how you thought about the source. Please reflect on the questions above and respond accordingly.
