To address in your paper:

Write an essay analyzing and comparing Sundiata: The Epic of Old Mali, Al Umari’s “The Kingdom of Mali and What Appertains to It,” and Ibn Battuta’s “Rihla (‘Journey’) according to the following points:

What is the role of Islam in Mali as portrayed in Sundiata on the one hand and the Arab writers on the other? In other words, Sundiata became known as a “great Muslim king,” but how do Sundiata: The Epic of Old Mali, Al Umari’s text, and Ibn Battuta’s text show the ways in which Islam was and was not significant in Mali?

NOTE: All three of these texts have been made available to you in the modules. Sundiata: The Epic of Old Mali is linked as several PDF documents on Canvas under the module for “Western Sudan to 1600.” And the writings of Al Umari and Ibn Battuta are included in the Quirin Readings chapter linked under the same module.
