Familiarize yourself with the following artists and chose one for your paper:
-Gerhard Richter

-Chris Ofili
-Nicole Eisenman
-Catherine Opie
-Mark Bradford
-Research this artist. Look at interviews, articles, biography, context in which they made art, the politics of their world, etc., and write about one or more of their works in detail using this contextual information. In other words, how is their work a product of the world they come from? I have chosen these artists specifically because their work is related to the lives they lived. They have interesting lives and make interesting art, write a paper connecting these two ideas. Feel free to quote the artists, but do not take up your whole paper with the artist’s words. I am asking more of you than in the previous papers, I hope you respond to the challenge. Time to ramp things up a little bit!
Some of you might be turned off by something made by one of these artists. If this happens, feel free to write about this or turn to another artist. These are all major museum caliber artists, so any affront is incidental.
