Assignment
Description
This assignment is designed to
introduce you to the wide variety of shows running on Broadway, and to
recognize trends in the musical offerings. The website allows you to
click on shows to get a better idea of the style. Your response to the website
should illustrate at least 2 current trends of the Broadway Musical.
Directions
Review the shows running on Broadway, paying
close attention to the musicals.
What types of musicals do we see a lot
of? Catalog? Jukebox? Revivals? Rock Musicals? Family
friendly? Musicals made from movies? Select the two most
common trends , and identify shows in that category. You should also
hypothesize why those types of shows are so popular. Submit the 3-4 paragraph
to Discussion Board 6, using the title: Current Trends.
UPDATE: We acknowledge that none of these shows are
running right now. It would be interesting to compare the above link to
the list of shows running before Broadway
shut down. It would be valuable to see what shows are able to
weather this pandemic so far. You will see that many have closed
permanently, including Disney’s FROZEN.
