After summarizing and analyzing your diet, you will identify at least 5 items (micro- or macronutrients; you may include 1 nutraceutical if you wish) to improve your nutrition intake according to current guidelines, and then formulate recommendations to promote nutritional health, optimize well-being, and disease prevention based on recent scientific evidence (from 8credible sources*, preferably peer-reviewed journal articles, cited in APA-format). Please make sure to look at the sample papers and use APA-format paragraph headings!
TP Part 3 should be submitted together with your part#1 DWP analysis (so I can refer to it if needed) as soon as you completed it – by the due date (and no later than the closing date, which is subject to 10% point deduction per day submitted late after the due date). Use a Word-processing program, and follow APA-format guidelines (including a title page, header and page number, reference page, 12-font, double spaced; NO abstract required!!). Please upload your “word.doc(x)” file as “[your-lastname, firstname_DA-TProject#3]”.
In summary, this project is designed to take an analytical look at (your) nutrition choices, and try to improve (your personal) dietary selection for optimal health and well-being, using (current) scientific evidence.
Grading Criteria:
Part 3: 60 points for 5 (five) or more recommendations ‘how to improve your 3-day diet for optimal health and well-being’ based on scientific evidence from credible sources; properly cite and reference at least 4 credible scientific sources (do NOT use Wikipedia, Livestrong, Healthline.com etc.!) in APA-format.
12 points will be deducted for each missing nutrition recommendation (meaning: if you only provide 4 (four) improvement recommendations, I will deduct 12 points in this section).
up to 15 points will be deducted for poorly written work (e.g., typos, grammatical errors, incomplete sentences, missing in-text citations, etc.).
15 points will be deducted for poorly formatted work (e.g., missing headings), and neglecting APA-guidelines(please, see above).
10 points will be deducted for forgetting to re-upload and resubmit your DWP Combination Report (TP#1).
5 points will be deducted in each recommendation section for not citing and referencing your sources in APA (meaning, you can lose up to 25 points for not properly citing and referencing your sources).
5 points will be deducted for each missing scientific reference (again: I want to see at least 4 credible scientific references! As before if you use recent peer-reviewed journal articles than bonus points will come your way).
up to 5 points will be deducted in each recommendation section for inadequate research and analysis, if your recommendation falls below the minimum word count of 175 words, or if you forget to address ‘which foods you will choose in the future to remedy the shortcomings’ (meaning, you can lose up to 25 points for providing inadequate recommendations).
5 points will be deducted for ‘not having a conclusion’ statement (in APA and academic writing, we always want to see a conclusion statement that demonstrates ‘critical thinking skills’).
Providing additional, and science-supported recommendations above the mandated 5 (five) is optional, and may provide extra points (up to 12 points if the above criteria are met).
