The purpose of this assignment is to further assist you in understanding factors that affect interpersonal
communication. This is a paper in which you must discuss the lyrics of a song using key concepts introduced in
chapters 1, 2, 3 of your text and found on pages 40, 69, 99. All information included in your paper must be
conveyed clearly demonstrating how course material even applies to the message behind a song. Note: be sure to
digest the Parts of a Paper PowerPoint which offers a detailed description of each section that is required for this
assignment.
Specifics:
1. The paper should be 2-4 pages in length.
2. Paper must follow formal essay structure including the following:
a. Creative introduction with an attention-getter, thesis and preview
b. Minimum three distinct main points that support your thesis & include song lyrics coupled with concepts
c. Strong Conclusion with a review and clincher
3. Papers must include at least 2 thoroughly discussed concepts from each chapter (1, 2, and 3) BUT must
include 8 concepts in all (this means you decide which chapter(s) the remaining two concepts come from. For
example your paper could include 3 concepts from chapter one, 2 from chapter two and 3 from chapter 3 = 8).
4. Essential lyrics from your song must clearly appear in your paper and connect directly to interpersonal
concepts found on pages 40, 69, 99 of your text.
