Please watch the documentary, Helvetica, that was listed in your required textbooks. What did you think of the documentary on the Helvetica typeface? Did you think the designers liked it or considered it old fashioned?
Rewrote this:
The documentary definitely opened my eyes to the story of the typeface and kind of put me in the shoes of many different designers. Helvetica had a lot of conflicting opinions among designers. I could tell that many considered it basic and boring and others thought that quality was actually better for it. Personally, I’ve always been one to consider Helvetica old-fashioned and overused, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. It’s a clean and straight font which is why I think many designers find it old-style and boring, but it works where it needs to be used. I enjoy this document very much. It is obvious that Helvetica is a font with a long history. People use it frequently both in the past and now, including in my daily life, whether in my own country or in the United States. Even with such a high frequency, I still don’t think the font is outdated or inapplicable. More importantly, I think the success of the design of this font has made it a classic font that will not be obsolete by the times, and I personally like to use this font in the design.
