The traditional rules of supply and demand do not work in healthcare. This is because of the numerous funding mechanisms in healthcare (e.g. insurance companies, the government and other entities). Price has always been a big concern for consumers especially as it relates to medical debt and what has to be paid. In this discussion, we will look into attempting to understand the value of services provided by entities. Value should equal what people are willing to pay.
Part 1
Using the Medicare Website (below), find a healthcare facility in your area or your state. Once you have a facility, respond to the following:
1. What is the name of the facility, provider type (e.g. hospital etc.) and where is it located?
2. What region does it serve, what’s its overall ratings?
3. Describe the services provided and its quality categories.
4. Visit the organizations website that you chose. Think about how they market themselves online and discuss the value that you perceive they provide? What do they market well? What could they do better to show you more about the services or products they offer?
