Discussion question:
By Day 3 please select and discuss two (2) of the following topics:
• Examples of conflicts of interest in research and their importance – show historical development on this concept
• Competing demands placed on researchers, such as time, loyalties, and financial benefits and potential solutions.
• Why conflicts of interest persist despite being identified and potential strategies for improvement.
• Effective research design strategies to control for bias and mitigate the influence of conflicts of interest.
Please use your required textbook and a minimum of two scholarly references. (BOTH from outside the textbook). By Day 5, please respond to at least two of your peer’s discussion posts. Your response should expand the discussion on the selected topic and carry the conversation forward. Compare and contrast how your sources compare to your peers’ original post. Use at least one additional scholarly reference. By Day 7, please reply to at least one of your peer’s responses to your original post (AND to my follow-on question if I posed one in response to your original post). As a follow-on question to your discussion on strategies for improving issues with conflict of interest, what would be done on the other side of the equation, namely by journals and publishers, to mitigate this issue?
