Find a topic, designer, or work that lies outside the scope of our textbook but still seems relevant to you as part of graphic design history. This needs to lie within the time frame of our Midterm; in other words, from prehistory up to the turn of the last century (pre-1900).
The goal of this exercise is to understand the parameters of graphic design while exploring peoples, cultures, and movements that have traditionally been excluded from the Eurocentric and patriarchal model of GD. We are helping to make the study of GD more inclusive, accurate, and interesting!
Use your graphic design knowledge and vocabulary to describe why you think this movement/person/work is part of GDH. Please write this in your own words, with feeling & emotion!
No boring Wikipedia articles allowed! And plagiarism WILL result in a failing grade.
Please include 1–3 images along with your essay (1000–1500 words, or between 2 and 3 pages of text) and a bibliography of at least three sources (books, websites, magazines, journals, etc. using either MLA or APA style).
