What Does the Bible Say About the Role of Women?

Writing in this semester focuses on Application Papers (personal reflection and application) emphasizing OUTLINE and EVIDENCE with a statement of OPINION. The student’s application and opinion should be supported by facts, observations, and information from the textbooks.
For the Final Application Paper, students will develop a well-informed opinion paper on one major topic of the student’s choosing. A list of potential topics is given below. Students are not limited to these, but any topic chosen must be relevant to the course material and well-supported by sources. Potential topics include:
Is God justified in ordering the genocide of the Canaanites?
How does a biblical perspective on immigration inform your current position?
What does the Bible say about the role of women?
What is a Christ-like response to poverty?
What is a biblical understanding of justice?
What would you consider to be a biblical perspective on the sanctity of life?
How does a Christian approach to racial reconciliation impact your view of ongoing systemic racism?
What do you think the Bible says about heaven and hell?
Do you think a biblical approach would promote the use of war? Why or why not?
What is your understanding of what the Bible says about homosexuality? What is a Christian response to those in the LGBTQ+ community?
Utilizing the course material (assigned reading, lectures, other resources, discussion questions, and learner responses) is required. Utilizing the supplemental reading given in the syllabus and the Weekly Lessons is also key in building a well-developed paper. Well-written papers will have at least 4-5 academically-sound sources (using the Trevecca library will help ensure you are using sound sources). Statements not supported by references will be deducted points.
