Imagine that Twitter existed when Virginia was deciding whether or not to ratify the Constitution. Write the Twitter duel that might have taken place between James Madison, who favored the Constitution, and Patrick Henry, who opposed it.
4. Write up to twenty-five tweets for each of Madison and Henry. No more than twenty-five. Cover as much ground as possible; so choose your words carefully.
Format should look something like this:
JM:We need a stronger central government. We’ve been floundering under the Articles of Confederation.
PH:What do you mean? We defeated Britain under Articles. What more could you ask?
JM:We were lucky, and we had the help of France. We can’t count on that help forever.
PH: If we remain true to our alliance we’ll be able to count on France. And if we aren’t true, we’ll fail anyway.
