In this course, we have studied music of the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods, which are all part of the Western art music tradition. Because of their intertwined histories they share stylistic commonalities, but they also have many differences. In this exam you will assess the stylistic differences between the music of these time periods.
Write an essay describing the differences in the music of these time periods. In your response, use at least one composition by a notable composer from each period to articulate your points. Use the ethos for each period listed in the textbook to guide your response.
