As we have seen, a myth may be adapted by different authors or even the same author to further some literary purpose. Using the myth of Agamemnon’s murder write a three-page, typed essay explaining at least four times which this myth is told in Homer’s Odyssey.
YOU NEED CITATIONS, MEANING CITE THE PAGE NUMBER OR SECTION. THIS IS HOMER’S ODYSSEY, NOT THE PLAY YOU JUST READ
For each time the myth occurs explain the following:
1.) Who is telling the story,
2.) To whom is the story being told
3.) What details are included, added, or left out by comparison with other versions, and
4.) Why the particular story-teller uses the particular version of the myth with its particular details at that particular point in the Odyssey?
Grading Criteria:
Format and length
1.) Use 12 pt. Times font and double spacing.
2.) All margins should be set at 1”.
3.) Use a standard MLA style header with name, course, instructor, and date. Do not put a title for your essay.
4.) You must go at least three-quarters of the way down page 3. This will count as 1,000 words of our 3,000-word quota. Please include a word count.
5.) Save or export your file in MS Word format to ensure compatibility with eCourseware.
Writing AND ORGANIZATION
1.) Be sure to have an initial paragraph stating your thesis and briefly explaining what you will be writing about.
2.) You should break your paper into paragraphs, each of which explains one instance of the myth and its significance.
3.) Your paper should end with a very brief paragraph restating what you have shown.
CONTENT
1.) All four elements (who tells, to whom it is told, what details unique detail, why those details for that audience) must be covered for each version.
2.) Details must be accurate and have parenthetic page or book and line citation.
3.) Explanations must be reasonable.
