Activity A: Favorite Teachers
Purpose: To focus on what you believe about effective teaching.
Write a letter to a teacher you remember fondly as a student. In the letter you should explain what made this teacher effective.
After you’ve written your letter focus on articulating the second part of this exercise: Compare and contrast the many teachers that stand out in your memories.
What attributes to they have in common?
How do they differ?
How do the attributes of favorite teachers compare to those attributes defined by the research on teaching?
How do they compare with what your fellow students describe? The way to find out this last part: email, chat, / ask at least two students in the class
