Multilingual and Emergent Bilingual Students with Disabilities

Directions: Please address the following prompts. You will need to use and cite all required texts in your response to address these prompts in nuanced ways. Please use in-text citations throughout your entry to show where each argument and idea comes from–it’s not enough to list the texts in the Reference list at the end of your Entry. (Separate the answers by numbers.)

Please answer the following prompts separately.
1. What are some common myths and misconceptions about students with disabilities learning multiple languages? [Please describe these in your own words]
2. What do we know about how to support emergent bilingual students with (and without) disabilities?
3. Give a specific example of how you might incorporate translanguaging into your current classroom.

Reflections should be 2-3 pages using APA formatting (Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, etc.).

:: Journal Rubric::
– Journal entry thoroughly responds to each question or prompt, addressing multiple perspectives on each topic when applicable

– Journal entry cites specific examples and/or quotes from ALL of this Module’s required texts to support all claims, integrating ideas to form your own argument about each prompt

– Response is 2-3 pages long and uses APA formatting. Any errors in APA formatting, spelling, or grammar are extremely minor and do not detract understanding of paper.
