Please read the book, ‘The Working Poor’ and reflect on the book. Please respond to the following questions:

Address the theme of ‘working yourself’ out of poverty. Is this idea realistic? What type of challenges could an individual face in attempting to use work as a way to propel themselves out of an impoverished situation.
Explain the problems associated with low-wage work and the difficulties in making ends meet with low-wage jobs.
Explain the role of laws and policies that affect the working climate. Consider factors such as minimum wage, disability, and workers compensation. Be sure to cite specific laws and policies.
What economic or social policies in the United States have contributed to the cycle of poverty in which poor workers are caught?
Provide some examples of solutions to the working poor crisis. What types of policy changes could make a difference in the lifestyle of the working poor?
