Go to the ILGA website and look at the maps and information documenting state-sponsored homophobia and transphobia around the world. Research one of the countries where it is still a crime to be LGBTQ (red or orange) and examine the role that the media plays in the persecution of LGBTQ people.
If the country you chose is not actively persecuting LGBTQ people, you may choose to examine how the lives of LGBTQ people are portrayed in the country’s media. Is it sympathetic, hostile, or are they ignored?
(Remember: This is a snapshot of the current situation for LGBTQ people. You should not give me an entire history of the country.)
