2) Chapter Two: Review of the Literature: The purpose of the Literature Review is to
summarize at least 8 empirically researched (peer-reviewed) sources that are relevant to the
problem being investigated. The Literature Review is the foundation of your paper. A minimum of
12 pages is expected with an opening paragraph(s) that establishes the organization of the sub-
headings. The Summary of the Literature should highlight the most relevant research that
contributed to the research found. You must paraphrase the research without using quotations.
Expectations:
a) organize information to be presented by issue so that similar studies are grouped together.
b) use transitions to connect one study to the next. DO NOT list studies one after the other.
Identify relationships between studies. How are they different? How are they similar? Discuss
any possible conflict(s).
c) clearly identify that your research question has not been completely answered by previous
research.
d) organize your research from the general to the specific.
e) include current (post 1995), research-based primary sources.
f) organize the literature review so that it builds an argument that addresses the research
questions.
