Book Report (Christie):
Christie, Nils. (2017). Crime Control as Industry: Towards Gulags, Western Style. Routledge.
In this book review, the student should focus on the following questions: what is the book about? What have you learned from the book? What is the strength of the book? What are the weaknesses of the book? What more would you like to be added into the book from a reader’s perspective? Note that it is not necessary to cover the whole book. For example, the student may choose to focus on one or two interesting issues in the book, conduct further research on these issues and do lengthy discussions. The student should show his/her correct understanding of Christie’s arguments, his/her ability to take on critical thinking and independent research. The book report should be written as a formal paper, 4-5 typed pages (double-spaced). Extra reference sources besides the book will be a “plus”. The book review is due on October 25 (Week 10).
Please submit your report in word document, and name your submission as “Title of your paper (your last name)”: e.g., Anomie Theory (Liang).
Regarding writing style, you may follow any writing style in your field (e.g., APA). In any event, you should have citations and references (or works cited) in your paper.
