Weekly Discussion and Participation

Students are expected to read the assigned textbook chapter(s) and/or material(s) every week.

Question(s) will be posted on the discussion board weekly and each student is expected to provide one original individual response of their own. Postings should be substantive and contributing to / advancing the examination of the questions at hand. Every response posting must include at least one reference and citation. This entry is due no later than 11:59 p.m. every Saturday.

After this first round of entries is completed, students are required to respond to at least one other classmate’s response on the discussion. Share your feedback or thoughts, offer new information, elicit a conversation, give an opinion, argue, agree / disagree, and etc. The goal is to mimic a classroom setting where there is dialogue and correspondence. Every response posting must include at least one reference and citation. This response entry is due no later than 11:59 p.m. every Tuesday.

In the spirit of learning and growing as a class, all entries are expected to be thoughtful and robust. I am looking for something substantive – target 6+ sentences minimum per entry. The feedback should consist of respectful and constructive comments regarding the responses and should also contain two key learning points from that module reflecting on the chapters discussed that week.

*You should choose a new classmate to respond to each week and by the end of the quarter, each student would have commented on the majority of all course members*

Remember, each student should have a minimum of two (2) posts per week on the discussion board and each post should target 6+ sentences minimum per entry.

How prevalent do you think discrimination still is in the workplace? What are common ways employers / managers / interviewers discriminate? Are there any industries you can think of where it would be more common? What are your thoughts on affirmative action?
