Trevor & Patricia: Writing Senarios

PICK ONE SCENARIO. MAKE SURE TO INDICATE WHICH ONE YOU HAVE CHOSEN.

Choice #1: Mother of the Year Award
Here’s your scenario:

Trevor Noah is 16 years old. He’s learned that his school is giving a Mother of the Year Award. The lucky winner will receive any 12 books of her choice (and we know how much Patricia loves books!), and the winning family will receive a month’s supply of choice cuts of meat from the butcher (and we know how much Trevor loves food!) Trevor is extremely motivated to make sure his mother wins this award. The competition requires a son or daughter to write a letter to the award committee detailing why the mother should win. Pretend you are Trevor (so write using “I”), and write a letter to the committee explaining why Patricia should win. Use Chapter 5 especially to help you. Your letter should be formatted as follows,

Dear Award Committee,

[One paragraph, 6-8 sentences, on why Patricia should win. Use THREE concrete details from the book, and cite the pages you get these details from].

Sincerely,
Trevor

Choice #2: Trevor Needs Help
Here’s your scenario:

You are Trevor’s mom, Patricia. You are hoping that Trevor can be accepted at a special school for boys, a school that allows students of any skin color and specializes in young students who are a handful and might often get in trouble. Patricia is writing to the school to explain why Trevor belongs at such a school and how it might help him. You’ll use especially chapter 6 to help you. You should write as if you are Patricia, so use “I.” Your letter should be formatted this way:

Dear Veldt School for Boys,

[One paragraph, 6-8 sentences, on why Trevor needs to go to this school. Use THREE concrete details from the book, and cite the pages you get these details from].

Sincerely,
Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah
