Demonstrate your knowledge of Professional and Ethical Standards. As you have learned in this class, each major mental health professional organization has its own code of ethics. In your paper you should include common themes of code of ethics. Refer back to chapter one if needed. You should also include additional information that you have learned about other ethical considerations, such as; ethics in multiple relationships, ethical and legal issues of confidentiality, and/or ethical issues in couples, family, or group counseling. You can earn up to 20 points for demonstrating your knowledge regarding professional and ethical standards.
Identify personal values and origins and how these influence the helping relationship. In chapter 3 you learned the importance of becoming more self-aware, recognizing your core values, and learning how to separate your personal values from the therapeutic process. You should identify personal values that you hold, discuss how these values could influence the helping relationship, and discuss how you will ensure that your values are not imposed on those with whom you have a helping relationship. You can earn up to 20 points for demonstrating your competence of personal values and how those values can influence the helping relationship.
Your work should be free of spelling and grammatical errors. I would expect that your work would be between 2-3 pages in length. You should include references that you have utilized, including your textbook. You can earn 10 points for creating a well-written paper.
