It is now time for you to decide how you will approach your research question for your formal research proposal that is due in the next module. With regard to the broad research question that you developed in Module 1, answer the following in your journal assignment:
Identify and describe your research method in general terms (e.g., ethnographic field study, single case study). Why did you choose this method?
What are the ethical issues that you need to consider in this project? Make sure that you discuss voluntary participation, no harm to participants, anonymity and/or confidentiality, and justify any deception (if used).
Describe your sampling, observation and/or interview strategies, diaries and data reduction procedures.
Describe the kind of relationship you intend to have with the informants. Will you be hidden, neutral, collaborative, or action-driven?
If you will develop or adopt instruments, describe them and the process of development/adoption, revisions, etc. These instruments may become appendixes in your final proposal.
Describe your intended data analysis procedures such as narratives, coding and interpretation. Indicate computer programs that will be used, if relevant.
