Read the Fontana and MacIntyre articles. State your opinion as to what an organization’s leadership can do to prevent the exploitation of workers in offshore locations. Examine such abuses as child and prison labor, unsafe and unhealthy working conditions and low wages.

While globalization and the relocation of manufacturing to another country—such as a developing nation—will decrease manufacturing costs and increase profit margins, ethical problems arise such as child labor and unsafe working conditions (International Labor Organization, 2022). The leadership of organizations promoting and utilizing offshore manufacturing needs to consider the social responsibilities of doing so, and how to prevent human rights issues. A leader of the organization can recognize the ethical issues at hand and implement new policies and regulations in offshore manufacturing plants to guarantee basic human rights are provided to all employees and to prevent child labor from occurring in the manufacturing plants. The organizational leader can build the reputation of the company through socially responsible efforts focused on building an ethical reputation of the company while increasing workplace safety and regulations in offshore manufacturing plants. It is critical to observe and analyze how offshore manufacturing causes ethical issues to arise. Organizational leaders can implement policies and procedures in international manufacturing plants to provide basic human rights and safe working conditions for all employees.
