The 3 questions and hypothesis chosen:
(1) Question: Are men more susceptible to depression in social alienation instances?
Hypothesis: Depression is higher among men than women following cases of social alienation.
(2) Question: Is their a correlation between a person’s childhood trauma and the unlikelihood that they would commit a crime?
Hypothesis: If a person experienced childhood trauma they are more likely to commit a crime.
(3) Is there a direct relationship between sleeping irregularities and anxiety?
Hypothesis: A significant number of people with sleeping problems experience insomnia.
To narrow down your question – you have to add something new to the literature. Therefore, conduct some lit review on each of your questions and pick the question that adds something new to the literature. Pick a question that tests something different. You can propose a new research question by changing the methods, changing the sample size, or by testing different concepts. You should be narrowing down your hypothesis to one research question. This lecture will also help you think about what goes into your Introduction section, which we will start work on next week.
