Part 1-Activity 6.1:Developing a Listening Activity
One domain teachers of ELLs must include in their instructional practices is the listening domain. As such, this task requires you to create a listening activity with the following video. You will create a Listening Activity for another teacher who would be watching/listening to the following video: Preparing Teachers to Treat Errors. (Teacher Suggestion: For Activity 6.1, you are going to write a lesson that has a listening activity using the video in the directions. Think of it like, the video that is linked there is what you want the students to learn and you are going to create a listening activity to help them understand the video)
Part 2-Activity 6.2 Analyzing Impact of L1 on L2
Read the following article on “Chicken Meets on Rise” then answer the follwoing questions: Create a graphic organizer to summarize the main findings of the article. Topics to include: What’s the title and who is the author(s) of the study? Who is in the study? What was the context? What was the main finding? How does this relate to other concepts in our course? Other key details? What personal connection can you make?
Part 3-Reflection 6
1. How does language learner interlanguage impact language acquisition? 2. Explain how a students’ L1 impacts their acquisition of the L2, specifically as it relates to literacy development. 3. In analyzing errors for Assignment #2, what are new learnings or findings you are gaining? 4. How might this learning impact your teaching of ELLs?
