For this week’s assignment, students will be tasked with answering one of the following questions/prompts in at least two (2) well-developed paragraphs. All writing must be in the student’s own words, and should be informed by the weekly material studied – students should not use google to research this. Responses should be typed (following MLA format).*Any work that is not in the student’s own words, will be given a zero for plagiarism.
Question:
From 7.9 – Explain how the Great Depression and the New Deal impacted American political, social, and economic life over time.
Students should follow the PBEAR approach for each paragraph (see below):
1st sentence – Position statement. Clearly state the point you want to make.
2nd sentence – Background sentence. Give your reader a little bit more information about the main topic, so they can better understand the context.
3rd and 4th sentences – Evidence from the weekly material. Provide your reader with two pieces of evidence, integrate each quote into a complete sentence, and include quotations/in-text citations.
5th sentence – Analysis sentence. Explain in your own words, why your evidence supports your position.
6th sentence – Reinforcement sentence. Drive your point home, in your own words. Reinforce your position with a final sentence.
*All writing must be in your own words (anything plagiarized will receive a zero), and free of grammatical errors.
