ESSAY ASSIGNMENT (100 points): Drawing upon specific examples from the course readings, lectures, and/or films summarize some of the most prominent ways gender inequality is produced, reinforced, challenged, and/or has changed in FIVE of the areas we have studied in week 3 through week 6. The areas we have studied that you should write about include (you choose which 5 to focus on): (1) interpersonal behavior & social interaction (week 3); (2) language (week 3); (3) family (week 3); (4) education (week 3); (5) the media (week 4); (6) health (week 5); and, (7) sexuality (week 6).
The essay question should be answered as fully and completely as possible, drawing from all of the information covered in the course so far, but primarily focused on the material from weeks 3- 6. Use specific examples from the course materials (readings, class discussions, videos)–whatever information from course materials you can provide to give the best possible answer. Your opinion is welcome in the end, but an answer based solely on your opinion will not receive much credit. You do not have a choice over the essay question; however, you have some choice of course topics on which to write, and which examples you use.
