The purpose of this activity is to develop a plan that will aid you in the successful completion of
your future coursework. You will create a specific step-by-step plan for completing your next
written assignment that will include beginning your project or paper in a timely manner and
applying good practices in academic integrity at every step of your plan. Include the following:

1. When will you review assignment instructions and any instructor-provided support
material in order to understand assignment expectations? Address the following:

-A reflection on how far in advance you should review assignment information
and where you locate that information in the classroom, and

-A reflection on how to overcome the misassumption that only unskilled and
unprepared students need to ask clarifying questions of their instructor about
assignment expectations. Explain the reasons why asking instructors is the best
and most direct way to understand assignment requirements.

2. Develop a plan to gather the resources and/or complete other necessary preparation
steps before starting to write. Address the following:
-Determine and list the best resources available to search for and locate relevant
and appropriate scholarly articles or other required and approved sources.
-Describe the most effective note-taking strategies to identify source material
that supports your point of view or presents a counterargument.
-Describe the best ways to organize your ideas and get started drafting the
written portion of the assignment.
o How will you incorporate ideas or quoted material from the sources you
identified in the research phase of your paper or project?

3. Reflect on how this plan compares to methods you used previously to complete your
written assignments. Address the following:
-Describe how these preparation steps will help you to complete original work.
-Describe how these preparation steps will help you to address any factors that
contributed to challenges you experienced in the past when approaching a
daunting written assignment. For example, you could discuss how this plan will
allow you to better manage your time in the weeks and days leading up to the
assignment deadline.
