The analytical essay must be about the Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, with a thesis statement that responds to the topic question:
What large, global forces are at play in the novel (ex. globalization, colonialism, capitalism, white supremacy etc.) and how does the author use the story to comment on those forces?
The essay must be FIVE (5) paragraphs in length:
It must include an introduction and an arguable thesis statement that effectively responds to the topic of your choice.
A body of paragraphs that articulates three arguments. There should be three (3) point-proof-analysis cycles and three (3) pieces of evidence for each argument.
A conclusion that discusses the wider implications of the argument you have advanced.
The good copy of the essay must be typed, and double-spaced, using 12-pt font size Times New Roman.
A proper Works Cited section will be required at the end of the essay on a separate page.
