Explain how Hero and Beatrice are presented differently in the play.
You might want to think about how Beatrice is presented in Act 1, Scene 1 and how Hero comes across maliciously towards her cousin during the gulling of Beatrice in Act 3 Scene 1.
Lastly, consider how Hero is treated by the male characters and note how strongly Beatrice defends her cousin. You should particularly focus on the structure of the play (order of events) to help answer this question – the events of the play have influenced our perception of the characters.
Make sure you provide a judgement, use evidence from the text and analyse Shakespeare’s language choices (diction).
