Students will submit a 10-page research paper on “The Mission of God in the Light of a Prophetic Text”. In the research paper, students are expected to analyze and interpret a prophetic text Isaiah 61:1-3
about the universal and inclusive nature of God’s mission. God is the initiator, provider, the message and the messenger, empowering presence, and life transformer. Discuss how the prophets foresaw the
mission to the Gentiles before Jesus inaugurated the culturally and racially transcendent kingdom of
God. Give some practical guidelines on how the modern church in your context should participate in the Great Commission by presenting the good news of the gospel in all its dimensions (social, economic,
emotional, relational, etc.) to impact the lives of people.
Apply at least three of Paul’s missionary methods and principles. In addition, discuss how the
prophetic messages influenced and impacted the life and ministry of Paul who becomes one of the
great missionaries, theologians, and Christian leaders, in Christian history.
The paper is to follow
Turabian formatting guidelines and is to include a cover page, table of contents, and bibliography.
For samples of current Turabian formatting guidelines, please visit the University Writing Center.
Using biblical texts and sources of scholarly works in the area of your topic is highly expected. You need to use 10-12 bibliographies for your research. I have provided 2 listed above. The maximum length of your research paper is ten pages; there is no minimum number.
