Hello
Yendol-Hoppey and Dana describe “the back porch” as, “the place where, surrounded by family and friends, you can talk about your hopes, dreams, worries, and fears within a safe and trusting environment. It is the place where life’s dilemmas are collaboratively explored and solved. It is the place that represents a time when the world wasn’t so busy and people could sit and make time for length, get-beneath-the-surface conversations about what was happening in the world, country, state, or even just down the street” (p. 25). Think about your school’s “back porch.” Do you have a back porch at your school or is yours just being built? Maybe yours is in the conceptualization phase or maybe no one has even realized that there could be a back porch. With your school in mind, describe what the back porch at your school is or could be. Complete Exercise 2.3 on p. 34. Using an analogy, describe your experiences with JEPD in your school.
