Executive Summary
This format guide uses the standards of the 7th edition of the American Psychological Association publication manual (2019).
The executive summary is an abstract of the plan for the reader’s convenience. By reading the summary, potential readers can determine if it will interest them. One should be able to determine the subject of the plan, the author’s perception of its relevance, the key findings of the study, and critical implications. The summary should have three paragraphs. The first paragraph should include (a) what products or services you sell, (b) to what target market, (c) filling what target need, and (d) at what general level of sales and expenses.
The second paragraph should highlight important points. Projected sales and expenses are typically included, as well as unit sales and contribution margin if you can. That may be more advanced than what you can provide in this plan. Include the news you do not want anyone to miss, such as the strategic focus for the plan, a new service, or something notable.
Make sure to include the nature and purpose of this plan. You might also refer to the keys to success or at least summarize them briefly. Remember, this summary is the doorway to the rest of the plan. Make it interesting and complete, or your target readers will go no further. Keep it concise!
Budget
Include a budget for the next year as best as you can to support the promotional strategy you described above.

Objectives

Based on your research, what do you think should be done next? Write at least three short-term objectives and three long-term objectives for this company or product. If you owned this company (maybe you do), what do you think should be done given the mission, resources, trends, and competitive position? Remember, objectives must be SMART (specific, measurable, accountable, realistic, and time-oriented). How will you know if you are successful? Your short-term objectives should be related to the long-term objectives.
Evaluation of Strategy

An overall evaluation is not something you would typically include in a marketing plan. This evaluation is to help me assess whether you understand marketing strategy. Put together all you have learned in this course. Think about the appropriateness of the marketing mix for the target market chosen and whether the current strategy addresses the environmental trends. What changes do you suggest? What could make this marketing plan better? No marketing plan is ever perfect, so you must have suggestions for improvement. If you owned this company, what would you do differently?
