IF needed I put Information about the visual if you want to look at it.
20 observations of the visual:
1 – There are 3 people in the picture quite close together.
2 – There are 2 aged men (Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un who have very big names and a rivalry ?)
3 – The two political figures look angry at each other.
4 – Trump is holding a rocket to Kim’s forehead.
5 – Kim Jong-un has a big red button that he is about to press.
6 – The two political figures have very round and large faces (because they talk too much?)
7 – Every character is male.
8 – The kid in the middle appears to be a teenager.
9 – The teenager has a relaxed/peaceful expression and looks happy.
10 – The white space around the kid suggests it is like he has headphones on.
11 – The mouth shape of the two political figures makes it look like they are about to eat/bite his ears(maybe because there’s too much talking going on?)
12 – It appears that the kid in the middle goes to school judging by his clothes. (may be directed to students, kids in schools… )
13 – You can see how Donald Trump is pointing towards the button in a bad/threatening way.
14 – Donald Trump’s necktie has bandaids on them ?
15 – The text at the very bottom says “Noice-Cancelling Headphones”
16 – The text at the bottom suggests that you should not listen to what others have to say. (just enjoy life ?)
17 – Only their heads are extremely big except their hands (implying that they’re only discussing, fighting, talking, etc.)
18 – Kim Jong-un has what looks like a flag with him and his father on his uniform.
19 – The ad has fewer words intentionally maybe supporting the ad’s main purpose. (there’s already too much talking, no need for more)
20 – The ads advertisement is by JBL. The font is not too big or too small. It fits very nicely in the middle and is not to be missed seeing.
Rhetorical situation:
The creator of this ad is JBL. It is an electronics company known for its quality audio equipment. They are advertising their high-quality headphones in this ad. The audience looks to be suited for teenagers 13-17 or higher. Judging by the person who has the headphones on it seems like he is a student, so his age is not that old. The implied message of the ad is that by buying JBL Noice-Canceling Headphones you can block away all the negative hatred and things that are being said by anyone. It doesn’t have to be only political but can very well also be traffic in the daytime, for going on a walk, etc. Teenagers tend to listen to a lot of things these days primarily because of the usage of mobile phones and the internet. It can stir up a lot of things if much not needed nonsense is being spread, so the ad may try to change/help cancel or reduce some noise with those new headphones. It may be also good for helping them focus on other things that are more important to them.
Analysis:
It is interesting to see how the ad sponsors their headphones. It’s a very creative and humorous way of advertising. The way the ad represents the political figures feels like they are just being annoying towards each other and it’s not that important. This is because of the way the ad shows them to the audience for example making their heads extremely big including their mouth and their facial expressions. It’s strange to think that the boy in the middle is not bothered at all. Is JBL’s noise cancellation really that good? “JBL” is also the only bold written word on the ad. Maybe because they don’t have to add anything else. The visual speaks for itself and so does the brand. They are one of the best known for their audio quality equipment. By this time everyone should know who JBL is. There can be many questions that arise while plainly looking at the ad. “Should you ignore and not listen to anything going around?” or “How will this contribute to solving the situation ?”
