Candidates will develop a Personal Vision Statement as a Leader in an Early Childhood setting (APA format, 2-3 pages, excluding title page and abstract). (You can Google personal vision statement to find a variety of templates for developing your statement. Choose a format that works for you.) A personal vision statement is a way to guide you and to make the right career choices, helping you not to waver from your goals. It is an inspiration for you to keep moving on the right path. Even when faced with hurdles, personal vision statement acts as a guiding light. Your personal vision statement should be written in first person and it should contain statements that list out the goals you want to achieve in near future. Written goals are very motivational and you strive to achieve them, hence a vision statement must talk about what goals and achievements you wish to attain as an EC leader.
(1) Provide a rationale for each goal and achievement you wish to attain. Discuss what steps you will take towards meeting each goal. Write in a style that is easy to read and communicates clearly. Your statement should be free of gender and cultural bias, grammar and spelling errors. (2) The statement should describe your vision on being and effective leader and describe competencies that are required for successful leaders in Early Childhood Education. (You must include at a minimum the following four goals- collaboration with families, DAP, cultural diversity, and ethical NAEYC Standards.
Grade will be determined using the attached Vision Statement Grading Rubric.
