Class: Project Management Capstone
Notes: This is 8 weeks class. Please only and only make bids if you can help me for the entire 8 weeks assignments. (I will pay you good)
Week 1 Assignment:
Capstone Project Milestone #1
For this first milestone, you
will determine which of the three project options you will complete for the
Capstone Project. Choose a project option that suits your background and
interests, and which leverages your prior learning and experience. You may
consult with other professionals about your choice and draw on additional
knowledge from colleagues。
·
Project 1: Mobile Application Development Project:
Tech Industry
·
Project 2: IT Infrastructure Project: Migrating
Apps to the Cloud–Healthcare Industry
·
Project 3: Design/Build Contagion-Resistant School
Your written submission of 2-3
pages should address the following items for the project option selected:
·
The vision, mission, and core values for your project’s
organization
·
The organizational structure and reporting relationships
·
The business sponsors and stakeholders
·
The project dependencies (both external and internal)
Milestone
expectations: The Capstone Project
option you choose will incorporate your learnings and integrate an “outside-in”
view as you discuss your project with external project leaders and/or subject
matter experts in the industry or within your company. Ideally, you should have
a mentor or friend who has extensive experience in executing projects similar
to the kind you choose for this assignment. You can discuss and incorporate
some of the real-world challenges in the industry or specific organization you
choose. Apply the same project or organization context throughout the course
and in the final project and presentation in Week 8. Include three reliable
sources in the reference section and follow the Adapted APA Guide (Links to an external
site.).
Project Option #1: Mobile Application Development Project: Tech
Industry (IT Focus)
Overview:
This is a suite
of mobile applications to help customers/partners view orders and order
history, and track open orders using a mobile device. The look and feel of the
application should align with the overall company brand and marketing campaign:
color, logo, design, and the like.
You will work
with businesses to gather requirements and create features and user stories.
You will work with UX designers to build screens and web applications. You will
work with cross-functional IT teams to build web services to gather data from
backend databases and work with the security team to check vulnerabilities,
test the product, and release the product to customers.
This
application is used globally. It should be localized for Japanese and French
speakers. User screens should be translated and tested.
This product is
strategically important to the organization to win future market share. The
focus is on Agile development with three phases:
·
Phase I: Released in the U.S. and rollout for 250,000 customers
·
Phase II: Released in Japan and rollout for 80,000 customers
·
Phase III: Released in France and rollout for 90,000 customers
Project teams
are located in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Duration: Determine and finalize
(approximately: 8 months)
Project Cost: Determine and finalize
(approximately: $450,000)
Project Option #2: IT Infrastructure
Project: Cloud Analytics—Healthcare Industry (Compliance Focus)
Overview:
This project is to collect data from various on-premise databases and
move data to a cloud analytics platform. This includes data validation, data
transformation, and generating dashboards and reports for various operational,
business, and IT leaders.
You will work with businesses to gather requirements and create
features and user stories. You’ll work with UX designers to build standard
dashboards, and you’ll work with cross-functional IT teams and business teams
to identify, standardize, transform, and move data to the cloud for analytics.
Data will have personally identifiable information (patient data) that needs to
be transported and stored in a secure way.
This project has strategic importance to the organization to improve
patient experience and gain operational excellence. This application should
comply with HIPAA and other privacy and security compliance laws and
regulations.
This project has three phases:
·
Phase I:
Evaluate and identify analytics vendor; install to the cloud
·
Phase II:
Data standardize, extract, transform, and build data-warehouse in the cloud
·
Phase III:
Build dashboards and insights for various business and IT users
Project teams are located in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Company: Determine and finalize
Duration: Determine and finalize (approximately:
8-12 months)
Project Cost: Determine and finalize (approximately:
$2.8 million)
Project
Option #3: Design/Build Contagion–Resistant School (Construction Focus)
Overview:
Your local public school
system must build additional elementary school buildings in order to address
social-distancing requirements to minimize the risk of infection from
coronavirus and similar future contagions. Detailed requirements are well known
for things such as fire safety, parking, busing, and student drop-off/pick-up,
but largely unknown for minimizing the spread of infection. Social/physical
distancing, for example, may be an option for designing large classroom sizes,
but most sites have challenging space constraints, so other options such as
plexiglass cubicles and other innovative ideas are welcome. Spacing to improve
the flow of students moving through the building in a manner that minimizes
contagion spread will also be a challenge—especially with such young children.
The school system has decided
to contract with your firm to design and build the first such school of its
kind, and if the design is flexible enough to address site-specific
requirements across the large, suburban school district, your firm stands to
benefit by having a strong competitive advantage to build many more such
schools—both for this large school district and others like it across the
country.
Stakeholders: The county school board, the county
executive’s office, and your state department of health are the primary
stakeholders.
This project has three
phases:
·
Phase
I: Design. A full six months has been allocated for this phase,
given the importance of getting a good, flexible design for this first school
of its kind, and one that is intended to serve as a template for multiple
future design/build projects for elementary schools across the same school
district.
·
Phase
II: Build. Six months have also been allocated for this phase.
While aggressive, this timeline can hopefully be reduced further as more
schools are built from the same core template.
·
Phase
III: Template Refinement. One month has been allocated for this
phase, for the purpose of channeling all key lessons learned from Phases I and
II, in hopes of benefitting future similar projects with a more mature design
template.
Project teams are located in
the U.S.
Company: Building Blocks Construction, Inc.
Duration: One year
Project Cost: $50 million
