Try to avoid using cliche and generalizations, “it has been said that,” or “history repeats itself” etc etc.
All claims and assertions that you make of the philosophers, i.e. “Socrates thought that” etc MUST be supported by citations and references from the texts. It does not matter what style you use (MLA etc) as long as I can find the text quickly and easily.
As a rough guide I would expect to see three or four citations per paragraph in support of claims and statements. A paper with only two citations from the texts in the whole paper, for example, is usually a fail.
Do not put new claims, propositions, or arguments in your conclusion. A conclusion should conclude! It should summarize the argument that you have made.
