Through the course of this class you will build a virtual Histology Guidebook which will allow you to find imaging and histographs that will supplement the content of the weekly readings and lectures. Every week you will be asked to find histology imaging that illustrates assigned structures, cells, or tissues. Peer reviewed journals and online histology libraries are both good sources for locating quality images.
Each image that is included must have the following information to receive full credit:
Citation
Description
Magnification
Staining technique
Each week, there will be a prompt that will ask you to write about the pictures that you have found in order to place the pictures into the broader context of the course.
This week you have learned about the respiratory system and about tissues of the oral cavity. You will continue with your guidebook focus, and this week’s submission will include an exploration of function across organizational levels within each system. For each of the required micrographs, you will provide a brief description that explains how the tissue features which are visible are important for the overall organ system function. You should also provide some detail about the cell types that are visible within your selected pictures.
Your required micrographs this week are:
Trachea
Nasal cavity which includes both respiratory and olfactory epithelium
Alveoli (light microscopy)
Alveoli (electron microscopy)
Salivary gland
Tongue
Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length and conform to APA guidelines. Make this paper to be exactly the same like the lab assignment paper example given to me by my Histology professor.
