Research/Analysis Paper
The Research/Analysis Paper is a formal description of a large historical project on a topic of interest in American education. The paper should be approximately 3600 words in length (12+ double-spaced pages of text). For this assignment, you will locate an event, issue, situation, or historical figure that had a significant impact on the history of American education. You may use your primary text and at least three additional supporting documents (e.g., articles, books, diaries, newspapers, correspondence, etc.) to write your paper. You may also reference the book you previously reviewed, but this may not count towards the required three additional resources.
This paper will offer a chance to explore a topic in depth, to gain experience analyzing historical phenomena, and to survey the history of a subject of special interest and relevance to you. You should choose your topic well in advance of the due date, so that you can spend a few weeks researching the topic. (Note: Please choose a topic that occurred within the time-frame addressed by the course.)
